Each Virture is written on the apron used by the artist for the ritual of that day!
7 Ingredients for the magical mixing of the dough:
Flavour, Yeast, Milk, Butter, Egg, Salt, Sugar
Each BREAD-GODDESS will be dedicated to a person that will receive it on the day of the performance:
Each Goddess will be wrapped by the Artist and given a personal artist writing about the virture.
Elayne Mordes, Director of Whitespace and personal friend of the artist, will select the person to receive each virture and include in the writings the specific reason for her choice.
Composing in this way, a transcendental net of relationships!
As an artist, it is important to recognize a message
and seize that moment. Crows are messengers -
omens for change. This body of work explores
the similarities between the social interactions
among crows and that of humans. To know the
crow is to know ourselves.
This is the journey I have taken with this body of work.
a spinning installation based on Mantegna's famous painting "Mars and Venus"or sometimes titled Parnaso - 1497 and currently displayed at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. Both depict the forbidden love between Venus and Mars, surroundedby Apollo and the Dancing Muses of the arts, under the protecting gaze of Mercury.
Collishaw appropriates the delicate symbology of Mantegna's work and explodes it in a sculptural intervention on the zoetrope's pre-cinematographic technology, giving the illusion of a moving dioramic set in which all the symbolic elements are conveyed in a mesmerizing choreography.

DAVID WOJNAROWICZ (1954 - 1992) A Fire In My Belly
In response to presssure from conservative politicians and religious organizations, on December 1, 2010, The National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC removed David Wojnarowicz's video, A Fire in My Belly, from the exhibition Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture curated by David C. Ward and Jonathan D. Katz..
In protest of this censorship, Whitespace is proud to join P.P.O.W. Gallery, the estate of David Wojnarowicz (1954 - 1992) and venues around the world by screening this video in Whitespace.
The plastic pink flamingo, which had proliferated front yards during the spread of American suburbia, was elevated to iconic status after 50 years - blurring the lines between kitsch and high art. Production of the original plastic pink flamingo, designed in 1957 by Don Feathersone, ceased in June 2006 when Union Products closed the factory. Each subject's interaction with the simple lawn ornament implies an ephemeral equality, blurring the lines between proletariat and beau monde, perhaps a parallel to contemporary American society!
